Marcel Bard  (marcel.bard@compass-canada.com)
Operations Excellence Manager


EMPLOYEE BIO:
My career spans over 20 years and several continents. During these 20 years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with several major US, Canadian and Overseas companies. My background as been mainly focused on Food and Beverage. However, I do have several years of experience, in the room’s division component of this dynamic industry. The last four years of my career have been spent working in remote accommodations, here in the Oil Sands and in The Bakken Oil Fields of North Dakota. I’m also a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University where I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and I spend all my free time with my wife and our 9 year old son.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
My main responsibility is to deliver customer service excellence to our guests, our client, and our associates.
This includes and is not limited to the delivery of a safe living, and working environment. Safety is a major part of my responsibilities. From the food we eat to the bed we sleep on; safety is always part of my day. I love what I do and I especially enjoy meeting teammates and clients from all over the world. Delivering world class service in a safe, and respectful environment is what I strive for everyday.


Debi Bourque  (debi.bourque@compass-canada.com)
Operations Manager Accommodations


EMPLOYEE BIO:
I bring 20+ years of hospitality management with a strong focus on accommodations to the Oil Sands. Previously I have worked in high end resorts, hotels and cruise ships, traveling the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
My core responsibilities are to ensure ESS provides clean and well maintained room for our guests while offering exceptional customer service from check in to check out.

Finance Manager


EMPLOYEE BIO:
I started worked for ESS in the Oil Sands, on the Suncor Project in July 2013. Born and raised in the Okanagan Valley in beautiful British Columbia my husband and I moved to Calgary and have lived there for the past 20+ years. I have spent 99% of my working career in Canada’s largest law firms in their finance department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
I am responsible for keeping account for all of the finances for the Suncor Project. To ensure that all of beans are counted according to accepted accounting principles.

EMPLOYEE BIO:
I have worked for ESS since October 2012 and transferred to the Oil Sands to work with Suncor business in July 2013. I am a graduate from UBC’s Sauder School of Business where I earned a Masters of Management with a focus on international business. I have 10 years experience in the hospitality industry and have previously worked in finance and the non-profit sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
I am responsible for managing the Human Resources departments at Borealis, Millennium, Hudson, Firebag Village Core and Firebag Voyageur Lodges. This includes partnering with the operations teams in areas such as associate engagement, recognition, labour relations, and employment standards.


Alyssa McGraw  (alyssa.mcgraw@compass-canada.com)
HR & Payroll Administrator


EMPLOYEE BIO:
I have worked for Compass Group Canada since September 2005. My current adventure with ESS in the Oil Sands (specifically Suncor business) has been since December 2012 to present.

Some fun points you may find interesting about me:
• I have thirty seven food allergies, and an addiction to dark chocolate (specifically from Madagascar).
• As a child I put my mother’s nerves to the test; by the time I was 18 years old I’d had a total of 45 stitches (30 of which are on my face), from three significant events.
• When I was fifteen, I hunted a 300lb, 10 point white tailed deer, he is on the wall at home and his name is Ralph.
• I only use chemical free products; I even make my own household cleaners, including laundry detergent.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
I am responsible for daily, transactional HR requirement on site. This includes:
• Requests for offer letters
• Payroll related questions and concerns.
• Benefits related questions and concerns.
• Administration of the dispatch and/ or on-boarding process for all incoming ESS First North Catering employees.
• Tracking of reward and recognition.
• Processing employee file changes and terminations
• Payroll data entry and submission for all ESS First North Catering employees.
• Clerical responsibilities for employee files and documentation, including employee medical documentation for return to work.


Melissa Pynn  (melissa.pynn@compass-canada.com)
Retail Supervisor


EMPLOYEE BIO:
I started working with ESS in March 2011 as a housing associate. Since then I have had the opportunity to work with the retail department as Retail Supervisor.

For many of us this is our home away from home. I am pleased to be a part of providing excellent customer service that makes everyone’s day that much better.

EMPLOYEE BIO:
I work for ESS in the Oil Sands (specifically Suncor business)as a food service manager. I have spent 30 years in Hospitality working all over the world mostly in 5 star, Relais Chateaux and LHW hotels and also with Compass with Eurest division in Vancouver. I moved to Canada in Jan 2002. I live in Vancouver with my family.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
I am responsible for providing relief for the Food Service managers while they are out and for streamlining the operation making it similar between lodges and promoting First North Catering, Compass standards of excellence :

I am also responsible for ensuring good food and beverage offerings are always available within the designated service time periods and the shelves are always fully stocked. I am available for calls while I am in the lodge anytime or you can reach me via email

First Impressions Manager


EMPLOYEE BIO:
I have worked for ESS in the Oil Sands (specifically Suncor business) since February 2013. Prior to joining the ESS team, I worked in Hotel Management for 12 years; my last position was in Lake Louise as an Operation Manager in Housekeeping. My background in Hospitality has prepared me to provide exceptional guest service to all of our lodge guests. We strive to provide excellence services to our guest & give the service to the upmost standards and make them feel home away from home.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
I am responsible for the safe and effective operations of the Housing and Housekeeping departments for the Millennium lodge at Suncor Base camp. Our goal is to ensure our guest’s arrival and in-house experience is seamless and the lodge is always sparkling clean. Recreation Coordinator


EMPLOYEE BIO:
I have worked for ESS in the Oil Sands (specifically Suncor business) since December 2013. My passion has always been to work with people. Prior to joining the ESS team I had been in the Recreation and Fitness field for over 5 years; as a Special Projects Coordinator at a Curling Club, Dance Instructor and Dance Yoga Instructor in Edmonton and a Project Coordinator for a NFP studio. I am excited to be given the opportunity to serve our guests and to ensure they have something to look forward to everyday.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
My main priority is to look after the recreation and fitness needs of our guests. This includes the following:

• Create, plan and organize recreation events
• Create monthly recreation calendar
• Execute all recreations events on the monthly calendar
• Make sure proper equipment is available and in place for events
• Ensure location of events is established properly publicized
• Promote recreation events with posters, newsletters, white boards and conversations with residents
• Provide fitness and sporting activities to all residents
• Provide recreation and entertainment activities to all residents
• Help plan and promote special events and theme nights such as Halloween, Christmas parties, Super bowl, St. Patty’s day etc.
• Maintain fitness equipment and facilitate repairs and maintenance of equipment
• Confirm paperwork is prepared accurately and timely in accordance with operations manual, client, and corporate requests.

Our aim is to provide positive fitness, sporting, recreation and entertainment programs too all our guests.
